Bruce Anthony Balsega Sr., age 42, of 303 Jacobs Creek Road, Smithfield, PA 15478 died Thursday, September 26, 2002, at 9:58 a.m. He was born August 30, 1960, in Waynesburg, Pa., son of Joseph S. Balsega and Lena Marie Chesslo Balsega.

Bruce was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown, Pa., the Boy Scouts of America, and the National Rifle Association, and was disabled from West Virginia University’s Physical Plant in Morgantown, West Virginia.

He was an avid outdoorsman!

On October 26, 1985, he married Carolyn Jean (Davis) Balsega, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Bruce Anthony Balsega Jr.; a daughter, Hillary Jean Balsega; four brothers: Joseph Balsega and wife, Alberta, of Burghill, Ohio, Thomas Balsega and wife, Deborah, of Point Marion, Pa., David Balsega and wife, Michele, of Smithfield, Pa., and Stephen Balsega and wife, Kimberly, of New Geneva, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, William Balsega, and parents preceded him in death.

Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and River avenues, Masontown, Pa., today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 1, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, West Church Avenue, Masontown, with Rev. Fr. James F. Bump as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Parish Wake Service will be held Monday evening.
