Doris J. Mascia

Doris Jean Butkus Mascia, 75, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born March 20, 1927, in Naugatuck, Conn., daughter of the late Stanley and Ellen (Montville) Butkus.

Mrs. Mascia was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Parish, Uniontown, Pa. In the mid-30’s, she and her two sisters performed as professional singers in New York, and were known as the Beverly Sisters. In later years, they traveled throughout the East Coast performing in various clubs and also in USO shows to the delight of the Military Servicemen.

Along with her late husband, Robert, Doris performed with many local bands ending her career with the Richard Lewis Orchestra in the 1970’s.

She is survived by a son, Robert Mascia and his wife, Debra of Uniontown; a granddaughter, Julianna; two sisters, Eleanor Bagley and Ruth McIldowie, both of Waterbury, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Mascia on July 8, 1998; and a brother, Edward Butkus.

Friends will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, Oct. 1, until 9 a.m., at which time a blessing service will be held, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Therese de Lisieux R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. Kenneth G. Zaccagnini V.F., as celebrant.

Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
