Michael P. Danko Sr.

Michael P. Danko Sr., age 79, of Point Marion, Pa., and formerly of Bobtown, Pa., died at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Point Manor Personal Care Home, Point Marion. He was born April 13, 1923 in Shoaf, Fayette County, Pa., a son of Louis and Catherine Danko.

Mr. Danko resided in Bobtown most of his life and served with the United States Army with Company A in the 94th Chemical Mortar Battalion during World War II in Europe.

He retired from the Shannopin Mine in Bobtown and was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish in Bobtown, United Mine Workers of America, Bobtown V. F. W. Post 5567, and American Legion Post 423 in Masontown, Pa.

Mr. Danko was a former member of the Bobtown Road and Gun Club, the Bobtown Polish Club, and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Council Knights of Columbus.

He served as a Democratic committeeman for Bobtown.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

His wife, Irene V. Dzurik Danko, whom he married on August 16, 1944, died March 11, 1993.

Also deceased are his parents and two brothers, Louis Danko and Frank Danko.

Surviving are two sons: Michael P. Danko Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Morgantown, West Virginia, and William L. Danko Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Greensboro R. D. 1, Pa.; two daughters: Irene Smith of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Elizabeth Kovach and her husband, William of Greensboro R. D. 1; 11 grandchildren: Michelle Blosser, Monica Zinn, Michael James Danko, Daniel Smith, Erik Smith, Jason Smith, Tonya Danko, William Danko Jr., Jennifer Danko, Joel Kovach and Ethan Kovach; seven great grandchildren; two brothers: Joseph Danko and his wife, Catherine, of Bobtown, Pa., and Paul Danko of Cleveland, Ohio; four sisters: Anna Baden-Franczek of Cleveland, Ohio, Katherine Zeleznik of Fairchance, Pa., Mary Boggio of Uniontown, Pa., and Delores Chorba and her husband, Steve, of Uniontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday, April 8, at 10:15 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Bobtown, with Rev. Fr. Lawrence V. Holpp as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by Bobtown V. F. W. Post 5567 and Cumberland American Legion Post 400.

A Parish Vigil will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 8:30 p.m.
