Thomas L. McManus
Thomas L. McManus, 78, of Hiller, Pa., fell asleep at home on Friday, April 4, 2003 and is now at peace with the Lord. He was born September 23, 1924 in Vesta 7, Washington County, Pa., son of Leo Vincent McManus and Alice Rankin McManus.
Thomas was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal, Brownsville, Pa., Life Member of the Hiller Volunteer Fire Company, American Legion Post 0295 in Brownsville, Pa., and Local 1187 of United Steel Workers of America, Allenport, Pa.
He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation’s Allenport Plant.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Federer McManus; children: Thomas W. McManus and wife, Leighanne, of Birmingham, Alabama, Patricia McManus Grimm and husband, Robert Grimm, of Brownsville, Pa., and Phyllis McManus Rutledge and husband, Robert Rutledge, of Boldger, Pa.; one brother, James McManus of West Brownsville, Pa.; five grandchildren: Tricia Schmidt and husband Lawrence Sabatula, Trinette Schmidt and husband Adam Cunningham, Jesse McManus, PFC Thomas Rutledge of the United States Army serving in Iraq with the 51st Signal Brigade/Airborne, and Patrick Rutledge; and five great grandchildren: Josha Sabatula, Jenna Sabatula, Jillian Sabatula, Jakob Sabatula and Maggie Cunningham.
Friend will be received at Christ Church Episcopal, 305 Church Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 3 to 9 p.m. and Monday, April 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stanley Burdock officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Full Military Graveside Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 0295.
Hiller Volunteer Fire Company will conduct Service at the Church today at 7:30 p.m.
