Catherine Hiles Sproul, age 74, of Ohiopyle, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born June 17, 1928 in Confluence, Pa., daughter of James T. Hiles and Ada Porterfield Thomas Hiles.

Mrs. Sproul was a member of Meadow Run Community Church.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dale F. Sproul on October 14, 2002, her parents, and these brothers and sisters: Lloyd Hiles, Francis Hiles, Roy Hiles, Mabel Fowler, John Thomas, Herbert Thomas, James Thomas, Marie Lowery, Pearl Hilliard and Carl Hiles.

Surviving are six children: Thomas D. Sproul and wife, Rosemary, of Ohiopyle, Larry E. Sproul of Silver Springs, Maryland, Susan Klein of Ohiopyle, Richard M. Sproul of Arlington, Virginia, William E. Sproul of St. Petersburg, Florida, Barbara D. Carpenter and husband, Jerry, of Herndon, Virginia; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME OF FARMINGTON, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 9, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Rev. Kenneth VanSickle and Rev. James Smiley officiating.

Interment will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery, Confluence.
