Redstone supervisors adopt several resolutions
REDSTONE TWP. – Several resolutions were adopted Wednesday by the Redstone Township supervisors. The first two resolutions dealt with Community Development Block Grant money for 2003 as well as the modification of CDBG grants from 1999 and 2001. The modification will allow left over funds from those years for this year’s project.
Supervisor Larry Williams said the township will use the $145,000 from the CDBG grants for the revitalization of Main Street in Republic. Williams said the work will include street and sidewalk improvements to make the community handicapped accessible, replacing and relocating several utility poles and installing a new main water line. The township is working with the utility companies in connection with that project.
The supervisors also passed a resolution seeking reimbursement from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency for overtime and other expenses related to the February blizzard. The state assistance covers only direct costs incurred by the township during the blizzard.
The supervisors received a letter from police Captain Dennis Field requesting a change in employment status. Paris said the supervisors need further clarification of the request and no action was taken.
It was also announced that Redstone Park is now open and ready for use. Playground equipment was recently installed and the park is also being used for local Boy Scout meetings.
