Amy (Yablunosky) Pileggi
Anna Marie (Yablunosky) Pileggi, 82, of New Port Richey, Florida, known by most people as “Amy”, sadly passed away in the Intensive Care Unit of Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa., at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18th, 2003, the birthday of her late great niece, Cassandra Louise Carolla. Born on July 11, 1920 Amy was the first child of Anna (Bodnar) Yablunosky and Steve Yablunosky from Youngstown, Pa., who briefly lived in Struthers, Ohio, at that time.
Amy was a very sweet, warm, kindhearted person who always found the good in everyone. She thought the most important quality one could possess was being kind to everyone, and she lived that way.
She enjoyed family, friends, children, good food, reading newspapers and magazines, playing cards, and reminiscing and talking about her late husband John. Their greatest desire in life was to have children but they were not able to. Because of this they were always known by family and friends alike as “Aunt Amy and Uncle Johnny”.
Amy was President of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard, Ohio, and member of St. Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic Church in New Port Richey, Florida.
She worked as a B52 Bomber Rivet Inspector during World War II at General Fireproof in Ohio, the Meat Department of Kroger’s in Ohio, and a housewife.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Carl Pileggi, who passed away April 15, 2000. His Memorial Mass was said Easter Monday, April 24th, 2000 at St. Vincent De Paul Church in New Port Richey, Florida.
John worked as a Railroad Engineer for New York Central, New York. He was a huge presence, not only in stature, but through his very entertaining, loud, opinionated, personality balanced with compassion and sensitivity. He adored Amy and they truly enjoyed their lives in Pennsylvania, Hubbard, Ohio, and New Port Richey with family and a collection of wonderful lifelong friends and neighbors who became extended families with their own, and some even moved together from state to state.
Amy and John both had very fulfilling, happy lives and no two people deserved it more.
Amy was also preceded in death by her youngest sister, Frances (Yablunosky) Carolla, Pennsylvania, brothers-in-law, Louis Carolla, Pennsylvania, George Kotun, Ohio, Anthony Kula, Pennsylvania, Jay Pileggi, sisters-in-law, Caroline Pileggi and Mrs. Albert Pileggi, New Jersey; and grandniece, Cassandra Carolla, Ohio.
She is survived by sisters: Margaret Kotun, Ohio, and Dorothy Kula, Pennsylvania; and brother, Steve Yablunosky and his wife Doris (Petko), Maryland; and brother-in-law, Albert Pileggi, New Jersey.
Nieces: Connie LaMonica, Carol Kotun and fiance Joe Marino, Cathy Simon, Linda (Kula) Noel and her husband Leon, Judith Kula, Toni Kula, Andrea Yablunosky, Elizabeth (Pileggi) Herring and husband John, and Rebecca Carolla (caregiver); and friend, Don Norman.
Nephews: Louis Carolla and his fianc’e Valerie Puchmajer, Nicholas Carolla and his wife Michelle (Fleming), David Yablunosky, Matthew Yablunosky and his wife Lori, Anthony Pileggi and his wife Suzanne, and Albert Pileggi.
Great Nephews and Great Nieces: Christopher Simon, Amanda Carolla, Marina Mion, Brian and Eric Yablunosky, Nicholas Yablunosky, Beth and her husband Kevin, Sarah and her husband, Rocco, John and his wife Josephine, and Nicholas Melissa, David, Kate, Kevin Jr., John Jr., Delane and Brianna Pileggi.
A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, Uniontown, Pa., on April 21st 2003, Easter Monday, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Father Kenneth Zaccagnini, V.F., as Celebrant.
