Uniontown YMCA to begin session
Beginning this week, the Uniontown Area YMCA will be starting a new session of classes for adults and youth. People do not have to be a member of the YMCA to participate. A pre-school activity is the T-Ball Basic Class. This is where children between the ages of 4 and 6 learn the game in a non-competitive atmosphere.
The time is Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Monday.
In addition to the T-Ball Basics Class, the YMCA offers a T-Ball League for children ages 4-6 and a Coach Pitch League for ages 7-9, which are set to be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning June 2.
Gymnastics Classes filled up fast last session and the YMCA anticipates the same this time around.
All skill levels are taught on Monday evenings. Classes are available for any youth ages 4 and up.
Swimming classes are available for everyone from pre-school children to older adults. The classes are offered one day a week and two days a week. They are designed in a progressive manner with each level building on the preceding one.
Karate begins the first Tuesday of each month. The Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday classes are taught by James Baranowski, who is a black belt instructor. The classes are for children ages 6-13.
There’s a wide variety of aerobic fitness classes to choose from. The classes are presented in a 7-week session and there is unlimited class participation for any aerobic class.
The YMCA offers aquarobics/water walking classes, which increase physical strength and endurance without putting stress and strain on the joints.
These classes are good for swimmers and non-swimmers alike.
Exercise classes are available for those participants of any physical therapy program. This program gives people the opportunity to keep mobile with therapy exercises they have been taught.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Classes will be starting April 16. All pre-testing will be done on this day. Call Pat Kohrman for more details.
Summer Swim Team will begin May 5. For more information contact Darren DeCarlo.
Tutoring is available for any students in Grades 1 through 12 at the YMCA for most subject matter.
Times are arranged for convenience of the youth and the tutor.
The YMCA also has personal training for those who need a little boost.
The YMCA can design a workout program to meet specific goals and maintain consistency in your workout. Call the YMCA and ask for Bill Poninsky for more information or to schedule an appointment.
