Preliminary hearing on assault charge waived
BULLSKIN TWP. – A Normalville man charged with assaulting a young girl waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday and will instead have the matter heard in Fayette County Court. Rick Elwood Hull, 55, of 119 Cramer Road is charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors in connection to several incidents that allegedly took place over an 18-month period.
Hull was slated to appear before District Justice Robert Breakiron for a 9 a.m. hearing, but a conference held between prosecuting Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Jack Heneks and attorney David Lint, Hull’s legal counsel, before the session netted an agreement that the matter would be held in the county court.
According the complaint filed by state police at Uniontown, Hull allegedly assaulted an 8-year-old girl several times in her Uniontown home.
The child told police that during one incident she and Hull knelt on their knees and “prayed to the dear Lord not to do that again.”
Police were alerted to the incidents after the child’s 14-year-old brother witnessed an encounter between Hull and the girl and reported it to a school counselor.
Hull remains free on a $20,000 unsecured bond.
