PennDOT posts schedule PennDOT’s Fayette County maintenance manager, Merle G. Bolen, has announced the following tentative work plan for next week. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights.

The sign team will perform sign upgrades on various state routes throughout Fayette County.

Team Mill Run will cut shoulders on Route 1054 on Monday, Route 381 to Clinton on Tuesday, and Route 1050, from Nicholson’s Grove to White, Wednesday through Friday.

Team Limestone Hill will perform base repairs on Prittstown Road.

Team Cloverleaf will perform base repairs on Brownsville Road.

Team Big Six will install pipe on Route 3009.

Team Searights will shoulder cut on Narrow’s Road.

Team Summit will cut shoulders on Route 2015 and pick up litter on Route 40.

PennDOT’s Team Fayette has a 24-hour, toll-free number for residents to call to report any road-maintenance concern: 800-FIX-ROAD (800-349-7623).

Meeting announced

Marine Corps League, Laurel Highlands Detachment 732, will meet at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at North Union Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543. All former Marines serving now or retired are invited to join. For more information, call Daniel F. Martin at 724-736-4996.

Rally announced

A Gospel Music rally will be held Saturday on the steps of the Washington County Courthouse in support of American troops and President Bush.

The rally coordinated by the Rev. George Van Riper will begin at 2 p.m. and will include music by a number of organizations and individuals.

Among those performing will be the North Ten Mile Baptist Church Orchestra, the Lighthouse Trio, and the Our Country Under God Ensemble, as well as several soloists.

All veterans and service members in attendance will be recognized. Speakers will include the county commissioners, county veterans’ affairs director Gary Mucho, and Sheriff Larry Maggi.

There will be a special tribute to those lost in battle, with the playing of Taps.

Those attending the rally are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and American flags.
