Richard “Dick” Thistlethwaite, age 91, of Jefferson, Pa., retired Coal Miner from Mather Collieries who had graduated in 1931 from Jefferson High School, died Friday, April 18, 2003 in the home where he was born and has lived in all his life. On June 4, 1939 he married Betty K. Elms Thistlethwaite, who survives.

Also surviving are four children: Carol Thistlethwaite Smith of Bayminette, Alabama, Rick Thistlethwaite of Jefferson, Gary Thistlethwaite of Ligonier, Pa., and Doug Thistlethwaite of Solon, Ohio; grandchildren: Dyan Must, Jamie Thistlethwaite, Susan Strum, Laura Smith, Patrick Thistlethwaite, Chris Thistlethwaite and Cara Thistlethwaite; and great grandchildren: Katy Smith, Nicole Smith and Nathan Strum.

Friends will be received in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Pa., Gregory P. Rohanna, Supervisor, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 23, until the services at 11 a.m.
