Events planned The Uledi Post Office has listed the following upcoming events:
– The post office will hold a rabies clinic for cats and dogs Saturday, May 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. The cost is $7. Dr. Geary from the Geary Veterinary Clinic will be on hand.
– Postmaster Mary Lynn Pounds asks everyone to bring in used eyeglasses through the end of the month to benefit local residents in need. All donations will be presented to the Fayette County Association for the Blind at the end of the month. The association will recycle and/or refurbish glasses.
– Pounds asks everyone to bring in non-perishable food items to benefit local residents in need. All donations will be presented to the Jubilee Soup Kitchen at the end of April.
– State police will finger-print children at the post office Friday, May 2,, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Photo ID photos will also be taken, at a cost of $2 to cover expenses. Parents must bring a Social Security card for their children. Call the post office at 724-439-2180 to register a child.
Tax deadline looms
Point Marion Tax Collector David M. Callahan reminds borough residents that the last day to pay borough and county real estate and per capita taxes at discount is 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 30.
Callahan’s office is located at 200 Penn St., Point Marion, in the CLAR-MAC Sales Agency building. The phone number is 724-725-5717, and office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Advisory issued
PennDOT District 12 advises motorists of a change in the work zone location of southbound Route 119 (Uniontown Bypass) in North Union Township.
Weather permitting, starting at 7 a.m. Friday, the southbound work zone location will shift from between the Connellsville Street and Gallatin Avenue interchanges to between the Gallatin Avenue and Route 51 (Pittsburgh Street) interchanges. Traffic will be maintained in right lane between the Gallatin Avenue and Route 51 interchanges. This change is so that concrete patching can take place between the Gallatin Avenue and Route 51 interchanges. Northbound traffic will not change at this time.
Observance set
The Uniontown Post Office is teaming up with the Fayette County Children and Youth Services in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.
New teddy bears will be collected and presented to CYS at a rally on the courthouse steps on Friday. The post office will also present Children and Youth Services with a framed enlargement of the popular teddy bear stamp in recognition of their efforts in protecting the children of Fayette County.
The public is asked to bring their teddy bears to the Uniontown Post Office until 6 p.m. today.
