Alvin C. Baker, 54, of Jefferson, Md., and formerly of Lake Lynn, Pa., died unexpectedly Monday, April 21, 2003, in Rockville, Md.

Born Aug. 16, 1948, in Morgantown, W.Va., he was a son of the late Milton D. and Sarah M. Johnson Baker.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served eight years active duty, and 22 years in the Naval Reserves, until his retirement in 1998, as a Master Chief. He was currently employed as a Project Manager at Epoch Engineering in Gaithersburg, Md. A member of the Lake Lynn Community Chapel, Alvin loved to travel, and was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Beverly Bixler Baker; his brother, Larry K. Baker and sister, Sarah Jean “Jeannie” Baker, both of Point Marion R.D.; and by his in-laws, Carty and Beatrice Bixler of Lake Lynn.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27, 2003, in the Lake Lynn Community Chapel from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of a memorial service, with the Rev. Reba Thurmond officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Baker Kidney Transplant Fund, % 229 Bunker Hill Rd., Lake Lynn, PA 15451. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa.
