Frank J. Basista Sr.
Frank J. Basista Sr., age 77, of Whitsett, Pa., died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in Jefferson Hospital. He was born June 4, 1925, at McKeesport, Pa., son of the late John and Margaret Dancole Basista.
Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis. He was a retired boiler maker of the Duquesne blast furnaces of U.S. Steel for 32 years. Frank was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association, a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Marines, a member of the Mon Valley Leathernecks and VFW Gold Star Post 7023 of Perryopolis.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Mihalcin Basista, and the following children: John F. Basista and wife, Kathy, of West Newton, Pa., Mrs. Charisse N. Adams and Mrs. Kenneth (Bernice) Fine, both of Whitsett, Joseph Basista and wife, Stacey, of Perryopolis, Pa., Frank J. Basista Jr. and wife, Glenda, of Belle Vernon, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Palvick of Greenoak, Pa.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 E. Independence Street, Perryopolis, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa., with the Rev. Father John T. Euker as celebrant. Entombment will take place in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. A wake service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by Military Police Co. B, U.S. Marine Veterans of North Versailles, Pa.
