American Legion announces American ism Day parade lineup
American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown, which has sponsored Americanism Day on May 1 since 1934, has announced the lineup for the 70th annual Americanism Day Parade, to be held in Uniontown at 7 p.m. Thursday. American Legion Post Commander Ronald E. Danko will open the program, and Mayor Jim Sileo will give the welcome-to-the-city address. State Commander Jerry Zorn will lead a contingent of state Legion officials and will speak at the banquet in the Post 51 home preceding the parade.
Other visitors will include past national officer Terry Lewis, state Adjutant Kit D. Watson and state Sen. Richard Kasunic (D-Dunbar). Master Chief USN (retired) Ron Schroyer will sing the National Anthem.
The parade will follow the same route as in previous years, starting at East Main Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue and moving west on Fayette to Morgantown Street, north on Morgantown Street to Main Street, east on Main Street to North Gallatin Avenue, then out Gallatin Avenue past the reviewing stand in front of the Legion home.
No political advertising is permitted. Latecomers can join the parade at the end of the fourth division. There will be no rain date.
