Merle R. Rogers
Merle R. Rogers, 58, of Dunbar, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born June 13, 1944 in Dunbar, Pa., son of the now late Joseph Merle Rogers and Marjorie I. “Jean” Smitley Rogers.
Merle was the owner and operator of Smalley Auto Wreckers, Dunbar, since 1982 and previously was employed by Williamhouse and also VW of America.
He was a member of Vanderbilt Church of Christ.
Merle was a loving, devoted husband and also a loving and caring Father! He and Nancy would have shared 40 years on July 20, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Smalley Rogers; two sons: James R. “Bud” Rogers and girlfriend, Stacy Smitley, and Marty L. Rogers, a sister, Sandy Rogers Tressler and husband Fred Tressler, and special aunt, Dorothy Stefanick, all of Dunbar; special nieces and nephew: Heather Fosbrink, Holly Fosbrink and J. T. Fosbrink; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Beatrice Smalley.
Friends were received in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, Pa., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home today (Sunday, April 27) at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Barchey officiating.
Interment will take place in Allen Cemetery.
