Alex P. “Pat” Burns, 85, of Buffington, Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown, Pa. He was born November 5, 1917 in Defiance, Pa., son of Patrick Burns and Mary Von Moos Burns.

“Pat” was a retired Construction Worker.

He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, American Legion Post No. 753 in New Salem, and Laborer’s Union 286, Brownsville.

His wife, Beatrice Bokar Burns, sisters, Dorothy Eberhart, Fern Kline, Agnes Busch, Cecelia Benoza, Rose Bill, brothers, Joseph, James and Bernard Burns, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons: Robert Burns and his wife, Janice, of Swissvale, Pa., and William Burns and his wife, Eileen, of Elizabeth, Pa.; three grandchildren: Patrick Burns, Beth Burns and Mary B. Burns; and three brothers: Glenn Burns and his wife, Mary, and John Burns and his wife, Rose, all of Buffington, Pa., and Regis Burns and his wife, Marcella, of Jefferson, Ohio.

Friends were received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said today (Friday, August 1) at 9:30 a.m. in St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. William J. Keil as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Connellsville, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 753, New Salem.

Vigil Service was held in the Funeral Home on Thursday at 8:45 p.m.
