Shirley Collins Gaydos

Shirley A. Collins Gaydos, 72, of Buffington, Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., with her loving family by her side. She was born March 5, 1931, in Dearth, Pa., daughter of John Collins and Minnie Mumaw Collins.

Shirley was a member of St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church in New Salem, RACM of St. Procopius (Christian Mothers), and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a former employee of Jerry’s Catering Service in Republic and also the Union Supply Company.

Five brothers, Jack, Charles, Henry, Robert and Leonard Collins, a sister, Betty McGrath, and parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Leonard Gaydos; two daughters and one son: Michele Myers and her husband, Joseph, of McClellandtown, Pa, Leonard Gaydos and his wife, Susan, of New Salem, Pa., and Marlene Gaydos of Overbrook, Pa.; five grandchildren: Tiffany Matthews and her husband Gary, Justin Gaydos, Lindsay Gaydos, Kristen Gaydos and Kaela Myers; two great-grandchildren: Hanna Matthews and Garrett Matthews; sisters and brothers: Sarah Ellen Sabick, Kenneth Collins, Margaret McCauley, David Collins and Constance Collins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said in St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church, New Salem, on Saturday, August 2, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Donald Trexler as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Parish Wake Service will be held today at 7:30 p.m.

Visitation was also held Thursday after 7 p.m.
