Leonard E. Flick, 81, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away Saturday morning, August 2, 2003 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born April 17, 1922 in Dante, Virginia, son of Edward Earl Flick and Annie Mae Parker Flick.

Leonard was retired from Hillman Barge Company where he served as Union President and late Yard Superintendent.

He was a member of South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as Fire Chief and also the Fayette County Firemen’s Association.

He was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army and the 204th Anti-Aircraft Battalion. His unit, the 204th, received a citation for downing the last German war plane of World War II. This was one of his most cherished stories!

He was also a member of American Legion Post 295 Brownsville.

His wife, Ruth Ann Harford Flick, a brother, Arthur Flick, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Flick Henshaw and her husband, Clark Henshaw, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three grandchildren: Scott Henshaw and his wife Erin, Allan Henshaw, and Jamie Henshaw; and two brothers: W. Eugene Flick and Lloyd “Tubby” Flick both of Brownsville.

Friends will be received by the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today (Tuesday, August 5) until 10 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Gail E. Mason officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation was also held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
