Kenneth C. Murphy Sr., 89, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, August 7, 2003 in Memorial Regional Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. He was born May 29, 1914 in Collier, Fayette County, Pa., son of Patrick Joseph Murphy Sr. and Elizabeth Hoffman Murphy.

“Ken” was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pa., and retired Mining Superintendent from United States Steel at Maple Creek, Robena, and Karen mines.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth C. Murphy III in 1990, one sister, Bessie Arnold, brothers, Francis, Patrick, James, Richard and John Murphy, and parents.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Doyle Murphy; a son, Kenneth C. Murphy Jr. and his wife, Gloria Rojas Murphy, of Dale City, Virginia; a daughter, Jeannine Murphy Schnatterly and her husband, Sherwin, of Ruther Glen, Virginia; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The Family will receive Friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, August 12, until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA 15401 or the American Heart Association.

A Parish Family Vigil Service will be held by the Ministry of Consolation in the Funeral Home this evening at 7:30 p.m.
