William Henry Elsey, Jr.
William Henry Elsey, Jr., 86, of Rolling Green Village, Greenville, South Carolina, died Sunday, August 10, 2003 due to a lengthy illness. He was born March 11, 1917 in Bruceton Mill, West Virginia, a son of the late William Elsey, Sr. and Catherine Schaffer Elsey.
He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Hugh.
Mr. Elsey worked for United Steel Corp. for 45 years as a Mining Engineer. He was a Boy Scout leader, President of the School Board and a member of the Lodge of Perfection and the Masonic Lodge.
As a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, he was a member of the Sam Bagwell Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Smithfield, Pa. for 60 years, where he served as Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and Moderator.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia Everett Elsey; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Paula Eley, Centerville, VA. And John (Jack) and June Elsey, Greenville; grandchildren, John (Jack) Elsey II, Jana Garrett, Henry and Julia Elsey; three great-grandchildren; sister, Jean White of Las Vegas, NV.; one nephew; three nieces and several cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at Rolling Green Village with Chaplain Joel Jenkins officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service.
