Emergency helicopters respond to Brownsville incidents

1 min read

BROWNSVILLE – Emergency medical helicopters were called to the Brownsville area three times in the past two days to transport children to hospitals in Pittsburgh. A 7-year-old boy was flown to Children’s Hospital Tuesday afternoon after he lost control of his bike at Cadwallader and Bank streets and ran into a wooded area. The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and received a head injury.

Earlier in the day a Brownsville Area High School football player was flown by helicopter from the high school to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh after reportedly suffering head and neck injuries during a contact drill in football practice.

A 13-year-old girl was flown to Allegheny General Hospital Monday from the high school after apparently suffering from severe heat exhaustion during band camp.

No further information about the children was available.

The Brownsville police, fire and ambulance crews responded to the Tuesday afternoon incident and landing zone, which was set up at Fenwick Park. The Hiller Volunteer Fire Department and Brownsville Ambulance responded to the two calls to the high school.
