Steve Hegedis

Steve Hegedis, 92, of Cabbage Flats, Greensboro R. D., Pa., died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at home. Born October 1, 1910 in Hungary, he was a son of Steve Hegedis and Bertha Czonka Hegedis.

He was baptized in the Byzantine Catholic Church and was a Coal Miner retired after nearly 50 years employment from Duquesne Light in Greensboro.

A son, Ronnie Marshall, a grandson, Stephen Hegedis Jr., two brothers, George and Joseph Hegedis, a sister, Julia Shahan, and parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Marshall Hegedis, whom he married October 17, 1936 and who lovingly cared for him through many years of illness; a son, Stephen Hegedis of Carmichaels, Pa.; a daughter, Nancy Waybright of Medina, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters: Mary Bezjak of Greensboro, Ann Florek of Masontown, Pa., and Bertha Marger of Farmingdale, New York.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa., today (Sunday, August 17) until 2 p.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Gary A. Gibson officiating.

Interment follows in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, Pa.

Visitation was also held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
