Uniontown man waives right to hearing
A Uniontown man charged with pointing a shotgun at a Uniontown police officer during a June 12 standoff at his house, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday. Gary Tracy, 52, of 142 Coolspring St. waived his hearing into charges of recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct, and is free on bond.
The case will be forwarded to Common Pleas Court.
His son, Clifford Tracy, 26, same address, was also charged in connection with incident. His charges were reduced to summary offenses and he pleaded no contest.
Police said the incident began at 5:46 p.m. when a car driven by an elderly woman struck the front corner of Tracy’s house. She suffered a medical problem and hit several vehicles along the road before she hit the house, police said.
Officers Jonathan Grabiak and Michael Garrow and paramedics responded to the scene. They were attending to the woman in the car when the elder Tracy twice opened this front door and asked for the CIA and FBI to be summoned, police said.
He opened the door a third time and pointed a shotgun at Grabiak, who was only a few feet from the door, police said.
After police formed a one-block perimeter around the house, Clifford Tracy arrived. He ran to the back yard and threw a handgun to the ground. When offices began to approach, he retrieved the gun and ran inside the house.
Police called the elder Tracy’s brother-in-law Dennis Sykes to the scene and he managed to talk both men into surrendering after 40 minutes.
Several loaded guns and boxes of ammunition were found inside the house. Police said some of the weapons were propped up a wall near the door.
