Charges filed Police have filed charges against the following individuals in unrelated cases:

– Kari Bertolina, 20, of 225 E. South St., with harassment and criminal mischief after she allegedly damaged plants and went through the mail of an East South Street resident on Tuesday.

– David Thomas, 28, of 806 N. 9th St., with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along North 9th Street on Tuesday.

Man charged

A Connellsville man failed in his alleged attempt to flee police during an early Tuesday incident that began in the city and ended in Bullskin Township.

According to police, Raymond M. Sekeres, 27, of 120 Miles Road was seen driving his vehicle in an unsafe manner in a convenience store parking lot along Crawford Avenue.

When police attempted to stop him, Sekeres fled onto Route 119, traveling northbound in excess of 90 mph.

He was later apprehended near the intersection of routes 119 and 982 when the wheel of his vehicle fell off. No injuries were reported.

In addition to fleeing and eluding, Sekeres was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, careless driving, driving at unsafe speeds and failing to stop at traffic signals and stop signs.

He was arraigned before District Justice Ronald Haggerty and released on a $15,000 unsecured bond.

Burglary arrests

State police in Belle Vernon arrested three people for stealing more than $7,000 in office equipment and maintenance tools from the Fayette County Housing Authority’s Dunlap Creek Village office.

Joshua Lee Brown, 19, of Brownsville, Cordele Edward Patterson, 29, of Grindstone and Jason Michael Earnest, 20, of Brownsville were arrested after the 5 a.m. Monday burglary when their vehicle broke down on Route 166, police said.

They were arraigned by District Justice Mark Blair and committed to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $20,000 straight cash bond.

Police said the suspects entered the office at 9 Front St. and took the items that are worth a total of $7,475.50.

Charges filed

Kenneth Holt, 40, and Pamela Merico, 34, both of 14 Locust St., were charged with simple assault and harassment following a domestic disturbance at their home at 4:14 a.m. Tuesday, city police said.

City police said Kenneth Mitchell of Miller Avenue reported the theft of a $1,200 check at 8 p.m. Monday.

Joseph Davanzo Jr., 35, of Uniontown was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he tried to choke a dog owned by Mary Riley of Lemon Street at 10:10 p.m. Monday, city police said.

City police said Michael Cronin of 20 Herman St. reported that he found a sawed-off Ithica shotgun under a mattress in his back yard at 7:47 p.m. Monday.

Tools stolen

Three socket sets owned by PDS Crane Service of Carnegie were stolen from a truck in the Holiday Inn parking lot between 4 and 8 p.m. Monday, state police in Uniontown said.

Five Malibu landscaping lights were stolen from Peter Stefancin’s 38 Rex Drive home between 10 p.m. Aug. 23 and noon Aug. 24, state police said.

Vehicle recovered

Brownsville police found a vehicle that had been reported stolen from California Borough Saturday. The driver of the car, Sheena Lingis of 57 South Hill Terrace, was charged with receiving stolen property.

The car, a 2003 Saturn Ion, is owned by John Byrne of 851 Speer St., California.

Go-cart stolen

A two-seat yellow go-cart that did not work was stolen from the driveway of Clyde Savage’s Route 51 home between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 6:45 a.m. Monday, state police said.

Criminal mischief

Someone broke a window in the rear door of Bowman Realty at 613 High St., Brownsville, to gain entry to the building. There was damage to a light fixture, water line and irons for the fireplace reported. The incident was reported Monday at 11:16 a.m.

Someone tried to kick in the door at 124 Brownsville Ave., Brownsville, between Tuesday, Aug. 19, and Wednesday, Aug. 20. The incident was reported on Friday, Aug. 22, at 12:10 p.m.

Simple assault

Brownsville police cited Greg Sikora, no age or address listed, for simple assault, domestic violence after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend, Christy Young, causing her to strike her head on a porch support pole. The incident was reported Aug. 20 at 3 a.m.

A .22-caliber handgun was found at Snowden Terrace and turned over to the Brownsville police Aug. 19 at 11:39 a.m.

A window was broken overnight on Aug. 18 at the B and R Shirt Shack in Brownsville. No entry was gained to the building.

Burglary

Someone broke into the state liquor store in Brownsville prior to 10:16 a.m. Aug. 18 by breaking a window to gain entry. An inventory of the store showed items valued at $1,117.28 missing from the store.
