Albert R. Girard
Albert R. Girard, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Uniontown Hospital. He as born May 26, 1920, in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late Ross and Jenny Hickle Girard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Robatin and Sara Louise Brown.
Mr. Girard was a World War II veteran and a member of the Teamsters Union 491. He was retired from North Union Township as a truck driver and drove truck for Cohen Furniture and Hankin-Paulson for over 65 years. He was a big CB fan for over 25 years and went by the handle Zipper 9.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Kathryn Henderson Girard; children, Phillip Girard and wife, Henrietta of Farmington, Pa., Ross A. Girard of Hopwood, Pa.; his foster child, Matt, and Denise Sweitzer and husband, Jack of Newell, Pa.; grandchildren, Amy Girard of Fort Orange, Fla., James Girard and wife, Tricia of Ohiopyle, Pa., Karen Girard of Farmington, Pa., and Danielle Sweitzer and Mark Sweitzer of Newell, Pa.; great-grandchild, Brianna Girard of Ohiopyle; a sister, Mary Ichesco and husband, Mike of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a brother, Ross Girard and wife, Betty of Hopwood, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, John Robatin of Los Angeles, Calif.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Monsignor Ramellini as celebrant. Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
