Lawrence L. “Bus” Raubaugh, 80, of Masontown, Pa., died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003. He was born March 30, 1923, in Leckrone, Pa., a son of William P. and Margaret (McKittrick) Raubaugh.

His parents, brothers, Vincent and Joseph Raubaugh, and brothers-in-law, Harry Hamo, Kenneth Rice and Nick Capozzoli preceded him in death.

“Bus” was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, and had been employed with the Leckrone Coal and Coke Company for 23 years. He retired from the Fruehauf Corporation, where he was a welder for over 22 years.

During World War II, he served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp, was a life member of the Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584, a life member of the Masontown Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2, Robena Local Union No. 6321.

A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, “Bus” had a very warm nature and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving are his wife, Elinor J. (Wolfe) Raubaugh, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 18, 2003; two daughters, Judith Ann Raubaugh of Masontown, Pa., and Kathleen McKetta and husband, Bill of Acme, Pa.; a granddaughter, Jessica McKetta; four sisters, Marie Capozzoli of Fairbank, Pa., Margaret Hamo of Flint, Mich., Agnes Rice of East Lake, Ohio, and Regina Mollica and husband, Joe of Uniontown, Pa.; a brother, Gerald Raubaugh and wife, June of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, until 9:30 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints R.C. Church at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. James F. Bump as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa., where military honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584 and Fort Mason American Legion Post No. 423. The Masontown Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Vigil Service this evening at 7:30 p.m.
