Rostraver commissioners approve zoning changes
ROSTRAVER TWP. – The Rostraver Township commissioners approved some zoning changes Wednesday, one of which is going to bring a new Sheetz convenience store to the area. The applicant requested that two parcels of property at Southgate Plaza located off Fellsburg Road and Route 51 be rezoned from B1 special business to B2 retail business.
Attorney James McCormick spoke on their behalf.
“We do think the request is appropriate because of the location of the property, and we think that Sheetz will benefit the community,” McCormick said.
The commissioners agreed to approve the request.
The board also approved a subdivision requested by Judith Ann Zimmaro and Douglas Jacob Peter for property located off of Timms Lane. They said the purpose of the subdivision is to create two non-building lots for agricultural use. One parcel will consist of 28.342 acres, and the other will consist of 28.375 acres.
Suzanne Peters Kruppa also requested a subdivision for property located off of Timms Lane. The commissioners approved this subdivision as well for the purpose of hooking 0.295 acres to an abutting lot.
In other business, the board approved a trailer relocation for C. Harper Geo Buick. The company owners requested a land development plan for property located off Route 51 so they could place a sales trailer on it.
In another matter, the commissioners recognized Keven McCloskey with a certificate of merit for his services at the John DiVirgilio Recreation Complex.
“Keven is working towards becoming an Eagle Scout,” said Commissioner Brian Sokol. “To help reach his goal he took on a project at the recreation center and dug out a site for steps and hand rails, and he helped put the hand rails in. He did a very nice job, and the area is much safer because of his work. We are giving him this award to express our heartfelt gratitude.”
President George Martin also expressed his thanks by telling McCloskey.
“We need a few more young men like you,” he said.
