Cal U to hold commencement ceremonies
CALIFORNIA – California University of Pennsylvania will hold a commencement ceremony for all August and December 2003 graduates Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hamer Hall. President Angelo Armenti, Jr. will confer degrees on 445 students, which does not include those who will receive degrees in absentia. The breakdown of degrees is 110 graduate studies and research, 170 education and human services, 82 liberal arts, 78 science and technology, and five associate degrees.
Alumnus Aaron Walton, vice chairman of the Cal U council of trustees and senior vice president of corporate affairs for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, will deliver the commencement address.
Ten students are distinguished with awards for exemplary performances in his or her respective academia area. They include Kellie L. Cole (Modern Foreign Language Award for Spanish), Marilyn Sue Fisher (Modern Foreign Language Award for German), Kristen E. Postava (Special Education Faculty Award), Latisha Marie Holland (Department of Elementary Education Memorial Award), Shelley Ann Kozub (Women’s Studies Certificate), Brandon Keith Ludrosky (Academic Excellence in Environmental Sciences), Earl Floyd Moss (Academic Excellence in Biological Sciences), Brian McKinley Carroll (Computer Science Award), April Ann Alling (Fredrick E. Atkins Mathematics Award), and Jamie Lee Fike (Harry R. Faulk Award for Excellence in Secondary Education).
No tickets are required for admission. California University Television (CUTV) will broadcast the ceremony live. In case of an overflow crowd, viewing areas will be set up at the Natali Student Center’s Performance Center.
A special area in Hamer Hall will be available for handicapped guests. Personnel will be available at the elevator in Hamer Hall to assist guests to the designated area. As an alternative, those with special comfort requirements may wish to consider viewing the ceremony in the Performance Center.
