Man found not guilty A Uniontown man was acquitted of rape and related charges Wednesday in Fayette County Court.

Michael J. Greathouse, 38, of 319 Virginia Circle, Uniontown, was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault.

He allegedly attacked a woman at the North Union Township Holiday Inn.

State police trooper David Bell alleged that Greathouse met a woman at the hotel bar, and when she got sick from drinking, rented her a room.

When Greathouse took her to that room, he allegedly took off her clothes and raped her between Feb. 1-2, 2001.

The woman reported the alleged rape several months later.

Jury acquits man

A Uniontown man was acquitted of stealing a car from a South Union Township man on July 2, 2003.

Police charged James Monroe Handlin with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, alleging that he took a 1979 Lincoln Mark V from one of his neighbors.

Jurors, however, found Handlin, 31, of Restone-Furnace Road, not guilty.

Jurors hear testimony

Jurors on Wednesday heard testimony in the trial of Anthony Jason Dressel, a 19-year-old Uniontown man accused of multiple drug offenses.

Police allege that, on three occasions, Dressel sold crack cocaine the undercover police informants. He is charged with three counts each of possession, possession with intent to deliver and delivery of drugs.

On Oct. 24, 2002 in the Uniontown Mall parking lot, Dressel allegedly sold .43 grams of crack. On Nov. 4, 2002, in a Route 119 parking lot, he allegedly sold .48 grams of crack. And on Nov. 8, 2002, he allegedly sold another .88 grams of crack in the parking lot of the Connellsville Township Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The matter will continue this morning.

Delay granted

A Fayette County judge agreed to delay criminal proceedings against an outgoing California Borough councilman while charges that were dismissed against him are appealed by prosecutors.

Judge Gerald R. Solomon agreed to the stay Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors are appealing the dismissal of disorderly conduct and unlawful restraint against John Greenlief. Solomon dismissed the charges in October.

Greenlief allegedly moved the car of a woman against her will on Nov. 24, 2002, and then got into a fight with the woman’s husband when he removed Greenlief from the vehicle.
