Doris J. Bankhead
Doris Jean Blaney Bankhead, 72, of Smithfield, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in Uniontown Hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Grindstone, Pa., daughter of the late Lloyd J. Blaney and Della Lynn Blaney.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John L. Bankhead; a son, Daniel Bankhead; a daughter, Elizabeth Bankhead; a grandson, Ronald Jackson; and a brother, Alfred G. Blaney.
Doris was a member of the Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church, the Golden Rule Bible Class, and the White House Ladies Club.
Surviving are her six children, James Bankhead of Daytona Beach, Fla., Robert Bankhead and wife, Sandra, Sandra Plitka and fianc?, John Morris, William Bankhead and Melody, and Thomas Bankhead and fianc?, Kim Roberts, all of Smithfield, Pa., and Barbara Jackson of Leavittsburg, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dolores Blaney of Baltimore Md.; a daughter-in-law, Doralee Bankhead of Smithfield; and very close nieces and nephews, Beverly Greeson, John Lucas and Vicki Lucas.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today until 10 a.m., the hour of service, with her pastor, Dr. George M. Hickok officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
