Sims joins staff at local medical center
Health First Medical Center, P.C., recently announced the newest addition to its staff. Joseph A. Sims, D.O., joined the team of professionals at Health First Medical Center, P.C., 1829 University Drive, Dunbar, according to Fred C. Edge, M.D., clinical director.
A graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Dr. Sims brings to Health First experience as a doctor and pain management specialist.
He was previously self-employed and practiced physical medicine and pain management in Pennsylvania and Texas.
He worked as the head staff physician at the Garland Physical Medicine Clinic in Texas, the Advance Comprehensive Medical Center in Plano, Texas, and First Clinic in Richardson, Texas.
Most recently, he was the medical director at Allegheny Medical P.C. in Pittsburgh.
Sims has had articles published in the Medical Hypothesis Journal such as “The Role of Iliolimber Ligament in Low Back Pain.”
He has specialized training in osteopathic manipulative medicine and prolotherapy (reconstructive ligamentous injections).
He is licensed in the states of Pennsylvania and Texas.
With the addition of Sims to the staff at Health First, the clinic will be able to handle even more patients that need to utilize the orthopedic practice and pain management clinic that is associated with Dr. Edge.
Health First is a unique facility because it not only offers family practice, but it also provides chiropractic, rehabilitation, therapy, therapeutic exercise, pain management and complete family dentistry, as well as daycare.
In fact, Health First can provide treatment for whiplash, fibromyalgia, back pain, headaches, chronic pain, carpal tunnel, neck pain, arthritis, allergies, anemia, colds/flu, urinary infections, heart disease, high blood pressure and osteoporosis.
In addition, Health First treats a variety of arthritic conditions, automobile accident injuries, workers’ compensation injuries and minor emergencies.
Health First can provide employers with their company physicals, drug testing and pre-employment needs.
The office accepts most insurance. Health First is located between Connellsville and Uniontown at 1829 University Drive, Dunbar.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
