DUNBAR TWP. – A Bullskin Township couple faces a Dec. 23 preliminary hearing in connection with two separate incidents when they allegedly removed 9,000 pounds of metal products from a Mount Braddock firm. Kregg E. Allen, 32, and Mechelle L. Allen, 31, both of 560 East End Road Ext., were charged by state police at Uniontown with taking 103 pieces of metal valued at $44,000 from Dynamic Materials Corp. and then selling the materials for $4,246.74.

The Allens are similarly charged with two counts each of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief and four counts of criminal conspiracy in connection with the incidents that police allege took place between Nov. 14 and Nov. 26.

According to police, after receiving information from Dynamic Materials about the theft, a security guard allegedly spotted the couple on Nov. 27 near the area where the metal had been stored.

Police said that on Dec. 8 they were contacted by Metal Management and informed that the stolen materials may have been brought to its Elizabeth scrap yard.

The plant supervisor, said police, produced five invoices noting that Kregg Allen had been paid for bringing in the metal products.

During a later interview with Kregg Allen, police alleged he admitted that he removed the metal from Dynamic Metals and used the money he received from Metal Management to pay outstanding bills and fines.

Police alleged Mechelle Allen admitted to accompanying Kregg Allen to Metal Management but denied she took part in the theft. Police alleged she told them she received $1,000 from Kregg Allen.

Both were arraigned before District Justice Dwight Shaner and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. The Dec. 23 hearing was scheduled for 11 a.m.
