Recycle day
Today is voluntary recycling day for residents of the borough of Perryopolis. Please remember that all glass, plastic, tin and aluminum should be rinsed to remove food or soap residue. Glass should be separated into colors, clear, brown and green. Labels may be left on but lids should be removed and discarded. The main recycling center will not accept: mirrors, ceramic cups and plates, crystal, light bulbs, window glass, Pyrex, or drinking glasses.
Aluminum and bi-metal, tin cans and beverage cans should be rinsed and have any paper labels removed. Ends of cans can be included and they may be flattened to save space in your recycling bin.
Workers will be at the borough garage from 10 a.m. to noon to help you with your bundles and bags.

Holiday thoughts
Our Crabby observes that it doesn’t matter how many extension cords you buy every year, when you go to plug in the holiday lights, you won’t be able to find any.
If you do find one, it will be the opposite color of the one you need and you will go out and buy four more, which will be the wrong color by next year. . . if you can find them.
Out on Rehoboth Church Road, a squirrel met with a bad end shortly after Thanksgiving. The poor critter was hit while he was crossing the road.
It was obvious that he was storing nuts away for the winter, as a large black walnut lay near his head. Crabby just knew that there was a message for all of us in this sad event.
After lengthy thought, and contemplation, Crabby realized what the message was: If you’re going to go out over the holidays and “get nuts” for goodness sake, stay off the roads. The squirrel didn’t have a designated driver, make sure you do.
