Dec. 23, 2003 Man to stand trial
Uniontown
Anderson Dwayne Gregg, 22, of 44 Lemon St., was ordered held for court on charges alleging he attacked an inmate/worker at the Fayette County Prison while he was incarcerated.
Gregg was held for court on charges of simple assault and harassment at a preliminary hearing Monday before Uniontown District Justice Mark Blair. He was then returned to the prison.
The case will now be forwarded to Fayette County Court.
County Detective Lawrence M. Curry filed the charges following the Aug. 13 incident.
Gregg allegedly assaulted inmate/worker David Stull as he was collecting empty food trays on the second floor of the prison.
He punched Stull in the face and then body-slammed him onto the floor, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Stull was then transported to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of a collarbone injury.

Armed robbery
An armed, masked man robbed the BP convenience store at 456 Morgantown St. at approximately 6:15 a.m. Sunday morning, city police said. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at an employee and demanded money.
Police said the clerk gave him approximately $50 from the cash register and the suspect then took nine cartons of cigarettes and chewing tobacco before he fled on foot, police said. The suspect is described as white. He was further described as wearing a black mask, orange hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.

ATM damaged
A bank machine at Frick Tri County Federal Credit Union on Pittsburgh Street was found partially pulled from the building Sunday morning, city police said.
Debris from a vehicle was also found at the scene at 10:35 a.m. Sunday.
Police further reported that surveillance equipment will be checked for evidence.

Doors broken
The front doors on the Rite Aid Pharmacies on Connellsville Street were broken at 2:36 a.m. Monday, city police said.
It was not known if anything was stolen.

Speakers smashed
Someone took two stereo speakers from Demetria Gaines’s Lemon Street home and smashed them outside of her residence, city police said. The incident was reported at 10:52 p.m. Sunday.

Purse stolen
Someone broke a window on a car and stole a purse owned by Jennifer Riggle of Masontown at Williamhouse in Scottdale between 11 p.m. Saturday and 7:45 a.m. Sunday, state police said.

A window on a vehicle owned by Donna Shumar, 46, of Cardale, was broken at 163 Filbert Orient Road between 1 and 3:45 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

Gas stolen
A woman in a blue Chevrolet Cavalier left the Texaco Food Mart on Route 40 at Route 166 without paying for $15 in gas at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

Charges pending
State police said charges are pending against a Melcroft man who allegedly assaulted three people more than two weeks ago.
State police said the man and Amy Neiderhiser, 31, of Melcroft were fighting at their residence at around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 when the man threatened her with a shotgun. When Jeff Prinkey, 29, of Melcroft came to the home, the man struck Prinkey in the face and pushed him into a glass window, said police.
The man later threatened Prinkey and Hubert McKenzie, 54, of Melcroft with a rifle, according to state police.
