Charges reduced
A Dunbar man will pay a $300 fine plus court costs for allegedly hitting his girlfriend during a fight in October.
Joseph F. Ross, 69, of 127 Hardy Road pleaded guilty to a summary harassment charge during a brief preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Justice Dwight Shaner.
The alleged victim, Caroline Y. Murphy, told Shaner that she was concerned for Ross’ health and would agree to drop the initial charge of simple assault lodged against him.
In November, Ross lost his bid for a position on the Dunbar Township board of supervisors.
According to police, Ross allegedly sat on top of Murphy and punched her.

Man killed in crash
A 48-year-old Ruffsdale man, whose identification is pending family notification, died in a head-on collision on a state road at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, state police said. The driver of the second vehicle, Jill Myers, 22, of New Alexandria, was listed in fair condition in UPMC on Tuesday. She was wearing a seatbelt. Police said they were traveling in opposite directions when their vehicles collided head-on. The Ruffsdale man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Break-in discovered
City police said that when Christian King arrived at her 15 Keystone St. home at 8:25 p.m. Monday, she found two men opening wrapped gifts under her Christmas tree. They fled when she arrived, and nothing was reported stolen. Police said the unknown suspects broke into the residence through a side door, which was damaged.

A BB shot damaged the paint on a truck owned by Daniel Karwatsky at his 42 Maurice St. home Sunday night or early Monday, city police said.

Man arrested
Khalis Lewis, 22, of 77 Coolspring St. was arrested on a felony drug warrant from the Fayette County Drug Task Force at 9:40 a.m. Monday on Iowa Street at Church Street, city police said. He was arraigned before District Justice Mark Blair and committed to the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $30,000 percentage bail.

License plate stolen
A Pennsylvania license plate, YLN-4592, was reported stolen from a vehicle owned by Eugene P. Barchetti at his 197 Lenox St. home at 5 p.m. Monday, city police said.

Door dented
City police said two boys were seen throwing rocks at a garage door at Paint Masters Plus, 127 W. Fayette St., at 2 p.m. Monday, leaving two large dents in the door.

Truck stolen
A yellow 1966 Chevrolet pickup truck, bearing Pennsylvania Classic plate number 89996 and owned by John Allen Baker, 44, of Uniontown, was stolen at 2:45 p.m. Monday from 15 Phillip Manor, state police said. Two unknown male suspects arrived at the scene in an early 1990s blue Toyota. Police ask anybody who sees the vehicle to call the station at 724-439-7111.

Citation filed
A harassment citation was filed against Roger Lilly of Connellsville for allegedly throwing a jar that struck Shirley Prinkey of Normalville in the leg along Breakneck Road at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, state police said. She was not injured.

Harassment charges were filed against Greg Smith, 48, of White for allegedly pushing his wife, Barbara Smith, 40, to the floor twice during an argument along Buchanan Road at 11:30 p.m. Monday, state police said.

Theft reported
A radio face plate was stolen, the antenna was damaged and the antenna wire was cut on a pickup truck owned by Brent Ruble, 31, of Smithfield at 2B Rose Road, Strickland Estates, between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Sunday, state police said. A window on his trailer also was damaged.

Woman hurt in crash
State police said Joshua David McClain, 19, struck an embankment along Country Club Road, approximately two miles north of Route 982 at 6:32 p.m. Monday, and his car rolled on to its roof. His passenger, Heather Lynn Welch, 19, was treated at Frick Hospital for minor injuries. Neither person was wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

Ignition wires on all-terrain vehicles owned by Kirk Dewar, 40, of Uniontown were damaged at the township fire department social hall between 3:30 and 11:59 p.m. Dec. 20, state police said.

State police cited Stephanie Ann Mitchell of Fairchance with criminal trespass and Brandon Scott Bloom of Lemont Furnace with harassment after a disturbance at 397 Main St. at 5:45 p.m. Monday.

State police charged Joann Patch of California with public drunkenness after allegedly finding her intoxicated outside a Whitehall Road residence around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The charges were filed at District Justice William Pelkey’s office.

State police said someone entered Richeyville resident Melissa Zibrida’s vehicle and stole Shalimar perfume and Ray Ban-brand sunglasses from inside the vehicle between 10 p.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. Monday.

State police cited George C. Nicksich, 22, of Fayette Avenue, Belle Vernon, after Nicksich reportedly became agitated when police could not find a number he asked for and allegedly slammed the front glass door of the state police barracks in Belle Vernon around 7:35 p.m. Monday.

Lawn ornaments stolen
State police said someone stole a lighted white reindeer and a lighted green tree from the yard of Rhoda Ritchey’s Grindstone residence between 11 p.m. Dec. 5 and 8 a.m. Dec. 6.

State police said Majane Madden-Brebrich, 29, was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries after her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier traveled off the roadway while negotiating a curve and struck a cement and stone pillar on Route 119 at Evergreen Memorial Park around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
