Shots fired

City police said they are investigating three incidents in which gunshots were fired Tuesday night.

At 10:17 p.m., witnesses reported seeing two men flee after firing shots along Gallatin Avenue. Police said as they recovered eight spent casings from a .40-caliber gun at the scene, they were dispatched to Uniontown Hospital for a report about gunshots.

At 10:28 p.m., hospital security personnel reported that two men in a white four-door Oldsmobile Cutlass fired shots in the area near the hospital and Bierer Wood Acres. They said the car had no hubcaps and its rear-end was low to the ground.

At 10:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to Agnes Almes’ Murray Avenue home for a report of a shot fired through a kitchen window. Police said they recovered a bullet from a wall of her freezer.

At 12:26 a.m. Wednesday, police pulled over a white four-door Chevrolet that fit the description of the suspect vehicle, after the driver ran a red light. The driver was released after a marijuana pipe was found in his pocket and a blood test was taken for possible driving under the influence charges.

Teen arrested

Masontown police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile for a Dec. 19 purse snatching on South Water Street involving an unidentified 81-year-old woman. Police said they recovered the purse and its contents, except for $30 cash. Police said the juvenile was placed in a Connellsville detention facility, pending a court date.

Two hurt in crash

Masontown police said Matthew Kyle Pokorny, 19, and Harold Pulley, 59, both of Masontown, were treated at Uniontown Hospital after a two-car accident Dec. 19 at the intersection of North Main Street and Bowman Avenue.

Residence entered

State police said someone broke into the Vanderbilt residence of Kimberly Klink on Tuesday, causing damage upon entry, but apparently took nothing.

Burglary reported

State police said someone entered a Layton Road residence overnight Dec. 19 and took two end tables and a coffee table owned by Ronald Bedner, 45, of Monessen and Kristen Mossburg, 20, of Dawson.

West Brownsville

Tools stolen

State police said someone stole several power tools from a vehicle owned by Frank Alan King, 39, of West Brownsville overnight Monday in front of King’s residence.

Unauthorized use

State police said Edward Baroni of Champion reported that a person he knows took his vehicle without permission Dec. 19 on Roaring Run Road.

Man charged

State police charged Floyd Douglas Merrill Jr., 29, of Rogersville with criminal mischief Dec. 19 for reportedly flattening the tire and scratching the door of a vehicle owned by Gina M. Anderson of Waynesburg.

Perry Twp.

Four-vehicle accident

State police at Waynesburg said that on Dec. 19, a hit-and-run driver reportedly initiated a chain reaction accident that damaged three other vehicles owned by Curtis L. Baldwin, 24, of Morgantown, W.Va., Patricia A. Wetmore, 57, of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Jennifer E. Reynolds, 36, of Westerville, Ohio.

Police investigate

City police said the driver and passenger in a mini-van that was pulled over in an alley fled on foot, but their vehicle drifted backward towards the patrol car and forced an officer to take evasive action to avoid being struck.

Police said they pulled over the van at 10:54 p.m. Tuesday after seeing it behind the United Federal Credit Union on South Mount Vernon Avenue with its headlights turned off. They managed to catch the passenger but released him after he was identified. The incident remains under investigation.

Man cited

John Hibbard III, 28, of Uniontown was cited for disorderly conduct after a disturbance at 69 Wilson Ave. at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday, city police said.

Dog stolen

City police said Joann Holland of Dunlap Street reported that her son was walking his brown and tan collie, Missy, on Lawn Avenue just before 5 p.m. Tuesday when a man on a bicycle rode up and stole the dog.

Graffiti found

City police said graffiti was spray-painted on the rear of the R.E. Michel Co. building on West Berkeley Street and an electric meter. The vandalism was reported at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Centerville police found a 17-year-old girl who was reported missing Dec. 16 in East Bethlehem Township.

Charges filed

Borough police filed disorderly conduct charges against Kim Cramer, 42, of Vestaburg after she allegedly caused a disturbance at her mother’s home in the Mexico area of Centerville on Dec. 16.

Police investigate

Borough police are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles in the Richeyville area over the past few days. Police said eight vehicles reportedly have been entered and loose change was removed.

Presents stolen

State police said someone smashed the rear driver-side window on a 1994 Cadillac Sedan owned by Mary K. Traynor, 42, of Perryopolis and stole numerous Christmas presents from the vehicle between 6:20 and 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Drill taken

State police said someone hid a drill under his coat then fled the Uniontown Mall Sears department store around 3:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Bicycle stolen

Someone stole a 20-inch boys black Diamond Back bicycle from the side porch of Stacey A. Matthews’ 285 S. Pittsburgh St. residence, state police said. The bicycle was reported missing at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Guns stolen

Someone broke into the 10 Railroad St. residence of Douglas and Brenda Bloomer and stole three guns Wednesday, state police said.

Child injured

State police said 2-year-old Jamie Dillinger was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident along Route 119 near Warehouse Groceries around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday. Police said vehicle operator James R. Dillinger, 31, also suffered minor injuries and was taken by Fayette EMS to Frick Hospital. A second passenger in Dillinger’s vehicle, 4-year-old James R. Ohler, and the operator of the second vehicle, Daniel T. Murphy, 41, were not injured, police said. Bullskin firefighters assisted police at the scene.

Car damaged

Someone damaged the rear window of a 1996 Chevrolet Beretta owned by Danielle Serock, 23, of California while the vehicle was parked in a Morgantown Street business’ parking lot around 1 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.

Windshield smashed

Someone smashed the windshield in a 1988 Buick Century owned by David L. Coger of Waynesburg while the vehicle was parked along Top Street, Shoaf, between 11 and 11:35 p.m. Dec. 9, state police said.

State police said an unknown vehicle struck the right side of a parked 2001 Dodge Durango along Falls Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
