John Billak
John Billak, age 82, of Masontown, Pa., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born April 11, 1921.
John was a lifelong member of Saint Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church in Masontown where he served in many position.
He was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy in the European Theatre.
John worked as a Lead Lineman for West Penn Power for nearly 40 years.
He was also a member of The Pals Club, V. F. W. Post 4584, and American Legion Post 423 all in Masontown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Charles, his sisters, Mary Sharkady, Ann Caro, Frances Williams and Sophia Laucher, and brother, Charles.
John is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Helen, Maria and Carol Ann, and son, John Peter, and their spouses, Paul, Brad and Ann, as well as grandchildren, Gregory, Calley, Rachel, Alexander and Alexandra.
He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Robertson and Julia Kurzyniec, and brother, Michal, as well as his sister-in-law, Kathy Babish Georgi, brothers-in-law, Stephen and Andrew Babish, and their spouses; and many truly loved nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., on Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Monday, December 29, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers will be said.
A Funeral Service follows at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Masontown, with Fr. Thomas Soroka, Fr. Vladimir Soroka, and Deacon John Oleynik officiating.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown.
Panachida Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Fr. Rodney Torbic and Deacon John Oleynik officiating.
The Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, 309 South Washington Street, Masontown, PA 15461.
