Beatrice M. (McShan) Yates, age 83, of Uniontown, Pa., passed quietly Friday morning, December 26, 2003 at the home of her daughter, with whom she had resided in for some time.

She was born March 23, 1920 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, daughter of the late Clifford and Malissa (Ellis) McShan.

“Bea” was a former member of John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church and presently a member of Interfaith Assembly of Christ Church, Uniontown, Pa., where she was President of the Usher Board and a member of the Senior Choir.

She was a retired Counselor with the Youth Corps of Fayette County.

Her husband, Jesse “Jack” Yates, two sisters, Odessa Turner and Ethel Johnson, and parents preceded her in death.

Surviving is one daughter, Patricia Hairston and husband Jerome, and three sons, Jack Yates and wife Clara and Patrick Yates and wife Sherry all of Uniontown, Pa., and Donald Yates and wife Kathleen of Crofton, Maryland; one sister, Egretta Stone Bailey of Uniontown, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Howard E. Dantzler officiating.

Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
