Bertha Shook Lacey
Bertha Mae Shook Lacey, 91, of Centerville Borough, Brownsville, Pa., died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, December 25, 2003 in Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown, Pa.
She was born September 6, 1912 daughter of Clifford Shook and Mary Tate Shook.
Bertha was the oldest living member of Taylor United Methodist Church, past President and member of the United Methodist Women and the Centerville American Legion Auxiliary.
On May 26, 1934 she married Leroy Lacey. He died November 15, 1989.
Also deceased are a daughter, Ruth Lacey Danko (August 4, 1970), brother Clifford Shook, sisters, Edith Donkers, Daisy Hanson and Dorothy Smyth Staley, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her parents.
Surviving are: son Clifford Lacey and his wife Jean of Brownsville, Pa., daughter Peggy Bailey and her husband Frank of Birmingham, Alabama, son Raymond Lacey and his wife Charlotte of Centerville, Pa., son Jerry Lacey of Loudonville, Ohio, son James Lacey of Brownsville, Pa., son Melvin Lacey and his wife Alice of Brownsville, Pa., son Richard Lacey and his wife Mary Ann of Brownsville, Pa., son Bill Lacey and his wife Anna Marie of Allenport, Pa., son Donald Lacey and his wife Cindy of West Brownsville, Pa., son Thomas Lacey of Brownsville, Pa., and daughter Debra Pettit and her husband Don of Brownsville, Pa.; 24 Grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa., today from Noon to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held Monday, December 29, at 1:15 p.m.
Services follow at 2 p.m. in Taylor United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edd Myers officiating.
Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, West Pike Run Township, Brownsville, Pa.
