Smock man will observe 98th birthday on Friday
John Pechatsko of Smock will celebrate his 98th birthday on Friday, Jan. 2. His wife, Rose, is deceased.
He is the father of 11 children.
They include Helen Gardiner of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; Andrew of Cleveland, Ohio; John of Austintown, Ohio; Michael of Euclid, Ohio; Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif.; Stephen of Canfield, Ohio; David of Cleveland, Ohio; Joseph of Leonardtown, Md.; Roberta Alborg of New Salem; Michele Danega of Hesperia, Calif.; and Rosemary Homer of Smock, who takes care of him.
He has 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He’s a retired coal miner and also worked two full-time jobs for eight years in Cleveland, Ohio, before he retired in 1971.
During the past eight years, he has enjoyed traveling with his daughter Rosemary and her husband, Steve.
They have traveled by train to the state of California and have taken cruises to the Panama Canal and to the Eastern Caribbean.
A small family dinner is planned to celebrate Pechatsko’s birthday.
