William W. Kuzemka

William W. Kuzemka, 78, of Brownsville, Pa. (Centerville Borough), died at 4:22 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2003, in his home. He was born September 30, 1925, in Donora, Pa., a son of the late Charles and Ann Kazio Kuzemka.

A graduate of Donora High School, Mr. Kuzemka, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from California State Teachers College, now California University of Pennsylvania. He received his Masters Degree and Principal Certification from the University of Pittsburgh.

He was a teacher in the Centerville, West Beth and Beth Center School Districts. He served as an Assistant Principal at the Centerville Junior High School, and as Principal in the Beth-Center Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Kuzemka, coached football at West Beth High School and was an Assistant Basketball Coach at the Belle Vernon Area High School.

He served as a PIAA Official in baseball, softball, football and basketball for more that 50 years. In May of 2003, he was honored by the Mon Valley Chapter of PIAA baseball, softball and Mon Valley Umpire Association for 50 years in umpiring.

Mr. Kuzemka was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Campaigns in Central Europe and Rhineland. He was a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post No. 705 of Centerville for more than 50 years and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Uniontown, Pa. He was also a member of the PITT Alumni Association.

On June 9, 1956, he married Dorothy “Dot” Takach Kuzemka, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Barbara Ann) Baker of Valrico, Fla. and Mrs. Kurt (Debra) Boehm of Seven Field, Pa.; four grandchildren, Danielle Baker of Orlando, Fla., Roman, Alexy and Slava Boehm all of Seven Field, Pa.; one brother, Nicholas Kuzemka and his wife Anne of Donora, Pa.; two sisters Julia Hendrick and her husband John of Euclid, Ohio and Helen Lelekacs of North Huntington, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Barbara Takach of Centerville Borough; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Mitch, Steve and Andy Kuzemka; and two sisters Alice Zolak and Ann Kucynda..
