Marietta Cook Panko
Marietta Cook Panko, age 85, of Hopwood-Coolspring Road, Hopwood, Pa., passed away Friday, January 31, 2003 in the Uniontown Hospital. She was a gentle lady of great strength and spirit!
A loving Mother and Grandmother who adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment shared with them.
She was born January 14, 1918 in Grindstone, Pa., daughter of Michael J. V. Cook and Pauline Stillwagon Cook of Leisenring One, Pa.
Marietta was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Uniontown where she had been a member of Our Ladies Guild of St. John’s Church.
She was a former Justice of the Peace in Leisenring One, Secretary for Dunbar Township Schools, and had retired as Administrative Secretary from Laurel Highlands School District in 1980.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Panko in 1984, three sisters and two brothers, Anna Pearl Beeson, William Cook, Pauline Dunston Begonia, Margaret Galderisi, Michael Cook, and her parents.
Surviving are her children: Marcella “Marcy” Pollock and husband, R. Scott Pollock, of Hopwood and Marian McCann and husband, Fred McCann, of Hopwood; seven grandchildren: Michelle Spellman Barsanti and husband, Joseph, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brandon Spellman and Jordan Pollock both of Uniontown, Pa., Joshua McCann, Evan McCann, Brody McCann and Carson McCann all of Hopwood.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, February 4, until 8:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
Divine Liturgy follows at 9 a.m. in St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Thomas Wesdock as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Church Cemetery, Hopwood.
Parastas Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 7 p.m.
