(Ret.)U.S.A.F. Master Sgt. Steve Joseph Mihalovich
Retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Steve Joseph Mihalovich, age 82, of Augusta, Georgia, and formerly of Tower Hill Two, Fayette County, Pa., passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2003 in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta. He was born April 23, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of Anthony and Anna (Bozovic) Mihalovich.
Steve was a retired Veteran of the United States Air Force who entered the service on June 6, 1941, was a Prisoner of War in Japan for 41/2 years during World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with Two Oak Clusters, and the Field Liberty Ribbon, attained the rank of Master Sergeant on November 16, 1951 and was honorably discharged on November 21, 1955.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Two sisters, Margaret and Sophie, a brother, John, and parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy J. Sable Mihalovich; one son, Gary Steven Mihalovich and Carol; three sisters: Mary Miske and Ann Andrini both of Tower Hill Two, Pa., and Theresa Kernan of Bridgeton, New Jersey; a brother, Frank Mihalovich and Josephine of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services were held Saturday, January 18, 2003 in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, Georgia, with Military Honors accorded by the Ceremonial Detachment of Shaw Air Force Base.
