Gene Chiti Angeloni
Gene Chiti Angeloni, a lifelong resident of Republic, Pa., died on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at her daughter’s home in Carmichaels, Pa. She was born in Masontown, Pa., on January 13, 1912, daughter of Gerardo and Germana Chiti.
Gene was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Republic and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and also Catholic Daughters of America Court 1141 Brownsville.
She was the first President of the Parent Teacher Guild of Holy Rosary School.
Gene graduated from the former Redstone High School and also from the University of Pittsburgh in 1932 with a degree in Language.
She taught French, Spanish and Latin at Redstone High School from 1932 through 1947.
She was fluent in four languages.
Gene worked with her husband, Charlie, in their store, Angeloni’s Shoe Store, on Main Street in Republic for many years.
Her beloved husband, Charlie Angeloni, a brother, Bruno R. Chiti, and parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Rachel Angeloni Lesako, and husband, Paul Lesako, and granddaughter, Gina Lesako, of Carmichaels, Pa.; a sister, Neva Ross of Masontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the PAUL MICHAEL LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 5, from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. A Prayer Service will then be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Republic, with Rev. Fr. John A. Bauer and Rev. Fr. Francis Nazimek as Celebrants.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
