Thomas W. Johnson
Thomas W. Johnson, age 82 years, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003 in Beverly HealthCare. He was born May 2, 1920 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Samuel Johnson and Ina Williams Johnson.
Tom was a graduate of Uniontown High School Class of 1938 and served with the Untied States Navy during World War II.
After the war he became a Co-Manager of Dils Construction Company from 1947 until 1966 when he became Purchasing Agent for California University of Pennsylvania until his retirement in 1984.
Tom was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church and was past Scoutmaster of the church’s Boy Scout Troop.
He was also a member of Fayette Lodge No. 228 F. & A. M., Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, and American Legion Post 5.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Dils Johnson in 1999, a sister, Lois McManus, and his parents.
Surviving are his son, Gary Johnson and his wife, Jane, of Uniontown and two grandchildren, Christopher Scott Johnson and Kaitlyn McKenzie Johnson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will then be held with Dr. John K. Sharp officiating.
Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood will conduct Military Rites at the cemetery.
