Martha E. Baker Fields

Martha E. Baker Fields, 98, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, February 3, 2003 at LaFayette Manor Inc., Uniontown, Pa. She was born May 31, 1904 in Uniontown, Pa. and was raised in Farmington, Pa. Martha lived from 1907 until 1923 in the Mt. Washington Tavern House at Fort Necessity, which was owned by her late grandparents, Edward Lewis Fazenbaker and Martha Fazenbaker. Also living there were her uncles Walter and Alvey and her Aunt Minnie. Martha spoke often of how she loved and cherished her early childhood years at the Tavern House with her grandparents, uncles and aunt.

Martha was also predeceased by her parents, Charles Henry Baker and Maude Belle Fazenbaker Baker, husband Delbert S. Fields, sons, Delbert S. Fields, Jr., Richard S. Fields, Raymond Fields and Henry Edward Fields and sisters, Ruth Baker, Edna Tishue and Florence Frazee.

She cared for her family since her husband’s death in 1938 and also loved to knit afghans and slippers. She also formerly attended the Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her children Lorraine Bradstock and her husband Russell “Bud” Bradstock, Uniontown, Gerald Fields, Uniontown, Lewis Fields and wife Janice, Pittsburgh and Wayne Fields and his wife Barbara of Uniontown; 25 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; a brother Edward Baker and wife, Kathryn Baker, Farmington and daughter-in-law, Pearl Fields, Hopwood.

The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Captain John Riley officiating.

Interment will follow in Fairchance Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.
