Frank L. Wilhelm
Frank L. Wilhelm, a man of great courage, honor and dignity, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. Frank was a man with a wonderful smile, a heart of gold and a tenacious spirit. He was generous and unselfish with his acts of kindness to his family, friends or strangers. Through his wisdom, love and hard work, he along with his late wife, Sue, raised six grateful children. There will forever be a hole in our hearts but we know that he leaves us for a much brighter place, where his loving wife waits with open arms. They are now together and truly home and for that we are thankful.
Frank was a graduate of Redstone High School in the Class of 1938. He worked with the coal industry for National Mines Corporation, Isabella Mine. He worked as an organizer for the UMWA and also served for several years as the local union president for the Isabella Mine local. He also worked as a Pennsylvania State Mine Inspector. Frank was a 50-year member of the Brownsville Lodge No. F. & A.M. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 370 of Uniontown.
Frank was born Dec 4, 1920, in Luzerne Township, Pa., the son of the late George A. and Edith A. Barker Wilhelm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Wyatt Wilhelm; a sister, Mary Lee; and four brothers, David, Allen (Dutch), Harry and William Wilhelm.
Surviving are six children: Dr. Michael L. Wilhelm of Uniontown, Mary Lou and husband, William G. Gordon II of Chalk Hill, Dr. George A. Wilhelm and wife, Jacqueline of Hopwood, Leo Wilhelm and wife, Claudia of Rubles Mill, Rebecca A. and husband, Robert McGarvey of Chalk Hill, and Paul B. Wilhelm and wife, Kelley of Uniontown; and five grandchildren, Gregg Gordon and James, Wyatt, Lauren and Aaron Wilhelm.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Private family services will be held on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pennsylvania Room of the Uniontown Library, 24 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA 15401. Brownsville Lodge No. 60 F.&A.M. will hold services this evening at 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.
