Car hits embankment
Cara Davis of Belle Vernon suffered minor injuries Tuesday when her vehicle slid on the snow-covered roads and struck an embankment on Tippecanoe Road, said state police at Belle Vernon. Davis was taken to Brownsville Hospital and examined for neck pain, according to police.

Recovered vehicle
State police at Uniontown said they recovered a stolen vehicle in the state gamelands off Cowrock Road on Jan. 30. According to police, the Chevrolet Blazer belonging to George Pierno of New Salem was stolen on Jan. 24 and stripped.

Retail theft
State police at Uniontown said two men and a woman left the Eat N Park restaurant at 2:51 p.m. Monday without paying their food bill. Farmington Oklahoma youth charged Nemacolin Woodlands Outdoor World reported that retail theft charges were filed against a 14-year-old Oklahoma boy who allegedly took $16.79 worth of merchandise from a store shelf and attempted to leave the store. The juvenile was caught by store security.

State police at Uniontown said someone broke into a soda pop machine in front of the Wal-Mart store on Matthew Drive on Jan. 27 and took about $150. Police said damage to the machine was estimated at $628. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police.

Lisa Joseph of 620 Ridge Blvd., Connellsville, told state police that someone known to her kicked her in the back on Monday.

Ritenour and Sons Construction of Connellsville told state police that someone took a chop saw, chain saw, a tapping machine and tools from the company vehicle while it was parked at 1919 W. Crawford Ave., Connellsville, sometime between Feb. 1 and 3.

Car strikes utility pole
State police at Uniontown said Donald Harshman of Dickerson Run was not injured Tuesday night when he struck a utility pole at the intersection of routes 201 and 819. Police attributed the wreck to snow and ice.

Charges filed
City police charged Jeffrey Kennedy of 2 O’Connell Ave. with receiving stolen property on Tuesday and placed him in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond. According to police, Kennedy allegedly took a purse belonging to Sabrina Mayfield, no age or address given, at Darby’s Bar at 145 Morgantown St. Police said Kennedy, Mayfield and a couple of Mayfield’s friends were sitting at the bar when the woman noticed that her purse and Kennedy were gone. Mayfield followed Kennedy to the parking lot and got his license plate number for police. Police said they arrested Kennedy in front of his house while he was going through the purse.

City police said they found a stolen, loaded .22-caliber Derringer pistol Tuesday morning in a parking lot behind an Arch Street nightclub.

State police said a truck driven by Clifford Kay of Fairchance struck a parked vehicle Jan. 2 on East Elm Street.

Tiffany Gillen of Uniontown and Betty Scander of Grindstone told state police that someone damaged the windshields and rear-passenger windows of their vehicles in the Woodview Terrace parking lot between 10 p.m. Monday and 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Girl assaulted
State police charged Daniel K. Stimmell, 30, of Smithfield, with indecent assault and corruption of minors for an incident involving a 9-year-old girl Jan. 1-3 in the Smithfield area. Stimmell was arraigned before District Justice Randy Abraham, who set bond at $25,000 and remanded Stimmell to Fayette County Prison.

State police said one boy walked up and punched another in the eye at the Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School at 11:20 a.m. Monday Police filed simple assault charges with juvenile authorities.

Pedestrian hit
Vicki Jo Ruvo, 53, of South Connellsville was treated for a minor injury at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville after the left side mirror of a pickup truck struck her along Youghiogheny Avenue near Baldridge Avenue at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, said state police. Police said Ronald L. Cockrell, 45, of Connellsville was driving the truck.

State police cited William Arthur Colbert and Alexander Lyons, both of Masontown, for public drunkenness along Route 21 Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Assault reported
State police are investigating a report by three juvenile victims who claimed a person known to them physically abused them at various times in Springfield Township.
Armed robbery
State police at Greensburg said armed robbery charges were filed Tuesday against Clarence “Monty” Stout of Mount Pleasant and David “Duck” Bailey of Ruffsdale. Police said the men, wearing ski masks, entered Shaffer’s Market at about 7:30 p.m. and allegedly pointed a gun at three clerks, demanding money. A short time later, according to police, the men allegedly robbed New Stanton Beverage. Police said the men were caught after they were spotted in Mount Pleasant Township. Stout and Bailey were arraigned at Westmoreland County Night Court and placed in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $250,000 straight cash bond.
