Wilbur W. Hibbs
Wilbur W. Hibbs, 88, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2003, at LaFayette Manor. He was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Woodside, Pa., the son of the late Joseph S. Hibbs and Margaret Nace Hibbs.
Preceding him in death were a son, J. Philip Hibbs; a brother, Floyd Hibbs; and four sisters, Helen Hibbs, Ethel Wilson, Gladys Crawford and Hazel Hibbs.
Wilbur was a graduate of South Union High School, Class of 1934, and a self-employed Timber Broker, a member of the X.C. Investment Club, and the Brethren Dart Ball Team. He was also a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church, and the Class 10 Sunday School class.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Watson Hibbs; a son, Roddy W. Hibbs and his wife, Ruthann of Smithfield; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Hibbs of Smithfield; four grandchildren, Matthew and Andrea Hibbs and Sarah and Steve Overfelt, Timothy and Sasha Hibbs and Rachel Hibbs; five great-grandchildren; a nephew, Holbert Hibbs and wife, Anna; three nieces, Elaine Tantlinger and husband, Frank, Loris Carothers and Nancy Koon; and a number of great-nephews and nieces.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, Pa., where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Dr. Michael E. Hall and the Rev. Robert Ford officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Great Bethel Baptist Church, 47 West Fayette St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
